Update: 2022-04-14: Boundary between Lincoln and Logan counties adjusted along Guyandotte River to comply with an order of the Lincoln County Circuit Court; Civil Action 16-C-32, dated 4 April 2016. The boundary section in questions is near the community of Harts, Lincoln County, and lies between -82.064067, 38009450; and -82.071527, 38.007447.<\/SPAN><\/P>

The West Virginia GIS Technical Center (WVGISTC) created this community boundary feature class using Census incorporated area 2018 data (https://www.census.gov/geo/maps-data/data/tiger-geodatabases.html). <\/SPAN><\/P>

Source Location (O:\\boundaries\\communityBoundary\\tlgdb_2018_a_54_wv.gdb) and County boundaries (24K) (source location- \\\\gistc-filesrv2\\vectorData\\Boundaries\\Boundaries_GDB.gdb\\POLITICALBOUNDARY\\POLITICBOUNDARY_county24k). <\/SPAN><\/P>

This Feature class was updated for Tucker County with community=provided incorporated areas, as Census has older data. (Source of Tucker county incorporated data- O:\\boundaries\\communityBoundary\\Tucker County Town Boundaries_20181210).<\/SPAN><\/P>

There are 55 counties and 232 communities in West Virginia. However, 8 communities (Wheeling, Weirton, Paden City, Montgomery, Smithers, Huntington, Nitro and Alderson) are split between two counties. For risk analysis projects, these incorporated areas have been split along county boundaries. As a result of the split there are 240 incorporated area polygons and 55 unincorporated area polygons. In total, this feature class contains 290 polygons.<\/SPAN><\/P>
