Service Description: A polygon coverage of cities with a population greater than 2,500 located in West Virginia. Based on the 2010 Census. For the 1990 files, Place Names data was downloaded from the 2001 National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD), a collection of GIS data layers developed by the U.S. Dept. of Transportation and other Federal agencies which depict geographic reference, transportation facilities, networks, and services of national significance. Original data was in lat/long NAD 83 and was reprojected to UTM NAD83. For the 2010 files, Places were downloaded from the U.S. Census Bureau's TIGER/Line Shapefiles. The WV GIS Technical Center added population and demographic attributes from U.S. Census Bureau American Fact Finder. http://wvgis.wvu.edu/data/dataset.php?ID=430
